VideoConverterUltimate App Reviews
While previous reviews of this product (earlier version) have been very positive for the most part, for me it is no help at all. If I understood the advertising, this product was the end all be all for video conversions, yet when I want to convert MPG (a sony video file) to MP4 — something an Apple can read it can’t be done. Sony is not exactly a nich brand, though it does have its own proprietary video file type. If this product was as “Universal” as it claims, Sony products would be included. Not.
The product crashes when trying to open several times. I also restarted my Mac and unistalled and re-downloaded the program. Don’t recomend purchase until the problem is fixed. Their website does not say how to fix the crashes either.
avoid iSkysoft
The application aborts continously. Support is nonexistent. Avoid all iSkysoft products.
I have been using this program for years, buying it first direct from the company and then from the Apple store. The current upgrade, however, is buggy. It worked fine this morning, but when I tried to start it this afternoon to finish the project, it refuses. It “quits unexpectedly” each time, even after rebooting the computer and reinstalling the software. I have no doubt this will be fixed, at which time I will return to a 5-star rating. In the meantime, wait for the update to replace the 4.4.4 version.
Had an issue with the program continuely crashing, contacted their tech support and they helped out greatly, with thier help i got the program fixed and has worked perfectly since. Thanks again.
iSkysoft iMedia Converter Deluxe
I am new at this, apparently this software is simple to understand, the application is very well made, should have best tutorials
The new version is giving me trouble converting YouTube videos into MP3’s. Now all the videos I wanted converted for audio are failing. Before it was as simple as adding and converting. Why the struggle now?
Limited Use
I had used the free version but needed to do more. Bought the deluxe version. Very pleased so far. Just havent used it enough to say 5 Stars.
***** A NEVER ENDING surprise is this iSkysoft iMedia Converter. First I used it to convert downloaded .FLV and .WMV video formats to .MP4. What’s more, when uploading videos to YouTube I only upload movies I’ve run through iSkysoft iMedia Converter — first. I’ve had non-stop dissapointment and major frustration with many video converter brands both free and paid (and a couple were expensive, too) — for Mac OS X especially. While using iSkysoft’s converter I often say outloud — “Where has this app been all my life?" iSkysoft’s video converter has saved my hide converting “any” quality level exported .MOV file from iMove (the only format iM exports) — this continues as of June 22, 2015. FYI: For me — not once, not one single time — have I been able to upload a .MOV video exported from iMovie to YouTube — and I’ve tried every single approach there is. APPLE MUST FIX THIS MAJOR BUG in iMovie… …I’m currently using OS X Yosemite 10.10.3. The iMovie upload issue was suppose to have been addressed in April 2015 — not in my case — and apparently from reading the most recent comments on the problem I’m not the only one having this problem. But… …this video converter fixes that problem — I just convert all Apple iMovie videos to .MP4 via iSkysoft’s converting app. I also like that it can extract — better than QuickTime — audio from video so I can do more post-production using Audacity. FIRST HAND REASONS FOR HAVING THIS APP AS AN “ESSENTIAL” ONE FOR “ANY” VIDEO NEED: 1. It’s astonishingly fast with no impact on video quality. 2. Exccellent with 60fps GoPro video and Panasonic video camera file formats; no issues with my Canon DSLR video recordings. 3. Consistently stable — there have been maybe four crashes that were likely due to too many apps running at once. 4. Wonderfully logical, uncluttered and intuitive interface. 5. It has some of the most important post-production features that people don’t realize or overlook (list below). 6. It’s so focused e.g. it “isn’t” limited — it just does basically 90% of the essencial pre-editing prep for video and all the major format conversion you can imagine within a wide rage. NO CONS SO MUCH AS LOGICAL IMPROVEMENTS THAT COMPLEMENT THE CURRENT APP: 1. A “conformation alert" that an alteration choice is accepted and you can proceed to another task. 2. Though it has okay color correction sliders — they’re rather useless; better if there were an “auto color correct” with the sliders. 3. A”warning” that if cropping into a video — an alert that will let you know what quality/pixel loss is occurring… 4. …also with a prompt letting you know what the best aspect ratio/size is best e.g. avoid 1080p; for best quality use 720p etc. 5. ***** Better naming convention e.g. instead of “Do you want to replace the existing XYZ file?” make it simply add a number leaving the existing clip you may want to keep alone. This takes a stop and “think” task out of the equation that’s often forgotten… …after you’ve overwritten a file you meant to keep. A FEW “MAJOR” CONVERSION TIPS WHEN USING THIS CONVERTER FOR PRE-EDITING PREP FOR PROJECTS: 1. IT MAKES A MEGA DIFFERENCE when you go into the “Adjust” crop mode with “every” video or clip. If you click on “Crop” — CHANGE the “Aspect Ratio” from “Keep Original” and click on “16 : 9” (or 4 : 3 etc.) — you will notice a flicker change in the video image — AND an instant quality improvement no matter how good the raw video is. Apparently every camera is different with aspect ratios and “16 : 9” in one may have a black frame around the image (initially un-notieced) pixels; clearly (first hand knowledge) the black frame, column or letter box is small — HOWEVER, you “will” notice the black while editing the footage. I’ve found THIS the biggest “ta-da” of the app for post-production prep. 2. When trimming clips — “don’t" do the trims that delete what you don’t want on each end of a video clip for example — instead — select what you “want to keep.” I discovered audio noise on the ends of deleted trims… …I think there’s a bug that doesn’t remove noise from what’s being “deleted” — best to select what you want to keep — that appears to remove the noise. 3. Creating “Custom” setups for video format exports is a time saver no end. FINAL OPINION: It’s worth every cent and screw all the other converters because they have major flaws and their promotions say they can do more than they do. As the day is long everyone may have a significant gripe here and there… …that’s a preference issue — not a reflection of the app. In the final anylisis it’s perfect in 80% of what it does and any alterations or improvements come with the territory. — [disclaimer] I’ve no association in any way with iSkysoft and its products.
To me, it’s the consistent software that does more than it should sometimes. Great for uploading almost any format from almost any source with the exception of Blu-Rays. You can download from almost any video website out there as well. It’s the fact you can’t burn blu-rays is why I’m only giving it 4 instead of 5 stars.
The version from the App Store does not download Youtube videos. Just to verify it was not my machine, I downloaded their trial version of the iMedia Converter Deluxe from the iSkySoft website and IT could download youtube videos. Therefore, they are selling a limited version via the App Store.
needed to convert and edit some old super 8mm film. Purchased deluxe and it did the job with some learning effort. Also used it to convert some mp4 files to wmv with ease!
I see this software has a lot of features that I look forward to exploring. However, the main reason I purchased it was to convert FLV files into MP4, which was something that always made me so frustrated with other converters. Well, my problems are gone now. This baby is EXCELLENT!!! The conversion is the fastest I have ever seen!!
I had previously tried using some free conversion software; however became very frustrated when it would only partially convert a video from .wmv to .mov or not at all. That all changed when i decided that I needed to readdress the issue and purchased this converter; wham-mo, I have successfully converted three tutorial videos in first day, and will explore other features of the software in the near future… highly recommend as converter for MBP users!
As stated, gets the job done, plain and simple, only one complaint is that the user interface looks like something from windows xp and really disappointing considering the price. the dark theme is great, and just a suggestion when choosing a file format, have a button that removes the icons or make the icons inline with the dark colours and to give it a more professional feel, And all icons more HD.
Mr
just bought this & my first attempt to convert a simple MPEG4 to MOV video failed what a waste of money
This is great at getting old and new files converted to what I need. It is also very straight forward. The software allows you to customize the conversion and save it. Well worth the money.
So far I’ve used this app as a converter, a downloader, an on-the-fly editor and a few other chores. This is one of those apps that you might purchase for one use, but then discover that there’s so much more under the hood. I’m very happy with it and thought it was well worth the purchase price.
It is a versatile application to manipulate videos, however it advertise that will convert a 2 hour movie in “just 5 minutes”, well after converting four movies averaging 1 and 1/2 hours in length, the average conversion time was 40 minutes. I have other applications that can do the same conversion in the same amount of time for free.
I followed the instructions to crop a movie, but all I got was in the wrong aspect ratio or unchanged. The coder(s) for this app should think seriously about making the user interface useable.
